How to regain yourcreative flow!

Some say the creative life is in ideas, some say is in doing.
I believe it is having so much love for something – be it a person, a word, an image, an idea, the humanity – that all that can be done with the over-flow is to create! It’s not a matter of wanting to, at that point it is a must! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Thus, the creative force moves through us. It moves in season, raising and falling, never stagnant, always moving and evolving.
We become its contributors. The creative streams flows in whatever container we were born with and the one we have created. It is not our job to fill up the container, but we do have to build it.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I work with many people who lost their spark of inspiration, of enthusiasm for life. I’ve seen it time and time again that the context creates the content. If we build a context that serves us, the content will change as well.

Clear water - The Creative Flow

I have once read a metaphor that spoke of the creative life/force as a clear water. I absolutely love this idea. We get to think of a stagnant, polluted water. No life can thrive there, no fish, no birds, no algae and definitely all animals that would come and drink from  there would either die or become sick.

The water reflects the creative life that reaches the container (us). If the container is polluted so becomes the water. The pollution occurs through many means, but a very common one is negativity & compassion. Many times people get in a sort of worship of other people’s talents and gifts, and instead of focusing on discovering and nourishing their unique gifts, they start mimicking the other people’s talents.

Your Creative Crown

I like to think of this as borrowing someone else’s crown. Imagine this. Someone walk down the street with a gorgeous crown on their head. You see it, and want to borrow it. The crown looks good on you for few days, but then it becomes heavier and heavier and instead of helping you it starts to hunch your spine.

This is what happens when we try and copy someone else. The crown starts to hunch our spines. The crown is your purpose and mission. Similar to the tree’s crown, yours would also grow through you and as you. The crown that grows through you will help you move with more ease and grace.

Similarly, when the creative flow gets polluted when it has to live in a polluted environment.

I do not believe in creative block. I believe in a creative flow. I believe in the movement of LIFE- DEATH – LIFE. The same applies to the creative flow. The creative rhythm is one of insemination, growth, spurge, decrease, death, incubation, and then back to insemination.

However there is a difference between incubation and desperation. During the incubation phase, we keep having an expectation for something to appear. We know that something is cooked within us. On the other hand, the desperation is different. At this point the water is so polluted that we lose hope and drive.

Cleaning the Water

This is when we get to clean the water.

  1. Nourishment – Get people in your life who do not only comfort you, but nourish you. Surround yourself with people who will pour wisdom into you.
  2. Recharge – We are disconnected from our bodies that we assume that we have to keep doing, being, creating at all times. However, we forget that it is during rest that any creative concept gestates.
  3. Eliminate what doesn’t serve you – Any type of excuse, any type of fear needs to be eliminated. If we want the water to be clear we gotta remove the pollutant.
  4. Time – Set aside time daily to create. You would’t let your body starve for too long, then why let your soul starve. Creativity is food for the soul.

I hope this resonated with you, and it sparks inspiration for you to create. If I know something is that creative is not solitary. The moment we consume any type of creative product when get inspired to create our own.
